A Mission Action plan brings together the Values, Vision and Mission of our church. It enables us to be clear on what is important to us as God’s people (Values), to see a better time ahead for who we are (Vision), through the unique contribution we will make in our context (Mission). This is a living document; MAP focuses may change with circumstances.
Vision Statement: Growing as a faithful Christian family by sharing the love of God with one another and the local community.
Mission Statement: To show we love God by learning to be like Jesus in who we are.
Our Core Values
Acts 2:42-47 lays out the model of the church. We identify four broad values:
1. God speaks
The effect of this teaching is that people become followers of Jesus and their lives are transformed
The teaching has been recorded for us in the Bible, which is God inspired, contains what is sufficient for salvation and is authoritative in how we live
We participate in this teaching together at church, in smaller groups and personally
The Apostles’ Creed summarises our core beliefs, and we belong to the Anglican church
2. God listens
Regular personal prayer is vital in a growing relationship with our loving God
Regular group prayer enables us to share and grow
Prayer is effective for change in our lives and our community
3. God redeems
We believe that we are all sinful, and that our only hope of salvation and redemption is through participating in Jesus’ death and resurrection
This is symbolised through the sharing of bread and wine at the Lord’s Supper and we participate in this by regular church attendance
4. God gathers
We come from a diverse range of cultural, ethnic or other backgrounds, but we all stand united as equal parts of the body of Christ
Regardless of age we all have an important contribution to make
We love and care for one another in times of need, sickness or other troubles
We share with one another meals and worship
We share our resources through regular financial giving for the church community, and other means of support
We are in a phase to engage again with the community. We are grateful to God for the blessing of the past that created a vibrant parish community and we believe that God will do this again. The Parish Council believes that through prayer and committing to the Mission and Vision which God has given us, we will prioritise the following for the next five years:
1. Confidence in expressing our Vision and Mission
Our society has less time for Christian belief and practice. We live in an area with higher than average “no religion”. It is important that we are confident in following Jesus. We believe that God is still calling people to follow Jesus and such people live in our area. We will work on our confidence through yearly initiatives to mature:
vibrant prayer life, both personally and together
sharing our personal story and experience of God
financial generosity to the work of God’s Kingdom through our community
2. Re-engage with children and families
We are so grateful to God for Carol as a two day a week Family and Children’s worker. Likewise we are excited that Joel will join us full time from 2026 as an assistant minister. As we seek to engage with the next generation, we will:
Devote resources to Mainly Music
Devote resources to Sunday Kids’ Church
Devote resources to beginning a ministry to youth
Offer pathways for younger generations to connect with us (eg. parenting course; all-age inclusive events)
3. Commitment to grow the communities in Balliang and Myrniong
We want to see Balliang and Myrniong flourish as communities of followers of Jesus. We will explore how to connect with the local communities better.
4. Become a hub for ministry towards Melbourne in the western growth corridor and beyond
We pray for the growth of more Christian communities between Bacchus Marsh-Melton and Caroline Springs, the western growth corridor. We want to see this happen by:
New people making a commitment to following Jesus
Being intentional about our spiritual growth
Training local leaders for volunteer and paid ministry
growing connection and support of our link missionaries with the Church Missionary Society (CMS) & Bush Church Aid (BCA)
5. Explore establishing an Early Learning Centre (ELC) or School
The parish has been blessed with land. Through this financial resources, we will work with the diocese to see if it is viable to use these resources to establish an ELC or school. This is part of our vision to be a hub for ministry in the west of Melbourne.
